What happens when you have a teenager, her younger sibling, a Yorkshire terrier, a half feral cat and a computer backup all in the same room together?
Actually, you don't even need the animals to create chaos when you have a 14 year old and a 7 year old. However, when you add the animals to the mix, it adds a form of comicalness to it that is priceless.
So now, I will relay my tale for you to get your own laughs from.
Computers are amazing. The Internet even more so. I'm a reasonably intelligent person. I know better than to keep all my information only on my computer, and I know to back up my computer on a regular basis. However, it never fails, for it seems that when you take all the right steps, something is bound to get in the way and trip you!
Don't you find it a bit irritating when you have memberships to a variety of places, some which you pay for, and some you might not visit often, that your computer decides to take a vacation. Of course, the computer cannot go alone. So, as a companion, it has to take all the information you have worked so diligently to save.
No matter how hard you work to save information, sometimes fate has other plans for you. In this instance "fate" was a 14 year old, chasing a 7 year old, chasing a Yorkshire terrier, chasing a cat. The poor cat seeking refuge, the dog giving none, the youngest child losing her footing, slides across the freshly cleaned floor. Before the eldest can catch her, the youngest has collided with the wall. Losing interest in the chase, and due of her sudden stop and precarious position, she sees an interesting little black box, and before her older sister can stop her, the box is in her hands. Oops!
As comical as the sight is to watch, and as enjoyable as it is to hear the laughter of children - the satisfaction is short lived when you discover that the little black box no longer functions, because it somehow found it's way into the innocent hands of a beautiful child.
Children and animals, and especially a combination of the two, definitely do not mix with any form of electronics.
Does this sound like a situation you have been through before? I know it makes me feel like my own intelligence has worked against me, only to be replaced by hilarious lunacy
C'est la vie
